Our machine makes applications of degreasing and applying glue to the surface of the vertical channel and then glues it to the surface of the glass.
Where will your application be used? In which industry?
In the home appliance industry.

Precisely applies the glue path.
What are the deployment/environmental conditions at the end user? What challenges did you have to solve?
High temperatures and dust. The movements of the robot depending on the process moment are very complex. Speeds in the automatic cycle are up to 1800mm and the robot rotates about 180 degrees around its axes.

    The solution offered by the supplier to run cables caused frequent damage to them and the devices to which they were connected. This resulted in frequent machine downtime, which generated additional costs and the need to replace the damaged elements with new ones. We approached Igus with a request to select more robust cables, but were offered a completely new cable management system with connectors, which would not only speed up cable replacement in the event of a failure, but should also ensure that the problem of damaged cables and components would be eliminated. The system impressed us and we decided to purchase it. Today we know that it was a good decision and our unexpected stoppages caused by the problem are over.

    We did not consider, we trusted the IGUS concept.

    To some extent, yes, because we will be able to implement the given solutions on other machines and require the system when we purchase new equipment.

    The plant realized by ATS is dedicated to the assembly of the basic relay plugs in the Octal (8 pins) and Undecal (11 pins) versions. The proposed solution foresees that the assembly and testing operations take place in stations located along the circumference of a programmable ring rotary table. The work cycle includes in succession:
    – OP010 – Feeding and loading of pins on pallet positioning (8x octal plug 11x undecal plug)
    – OP020 – Feeding and loading of the Housing plug on pallet positioning
    – OP030 – Dowel turning (8x octal plug ; 11x undecal plug)

    The plant is used for the production of components aimed at the industrial electronics market, to be precise Industrial Relays 6 – 10A
    What can your plant/machine/project do in particular?
    This plant is able to produce in complete autonomy without the help of operators except for the reset of the loading conveyors of the pieces to be processed (autonomy of the feeding systems about 60 min); at the change of recipe the machine is able to automatically set the utilities necessary for the production of the required product code (Octal and 47;Undecal). The cycle time is quite short as it is about 5.5 47;piece. In addition, the plant has all the features required to be part of the Industry 4.0 plan.
    What are the deployment/environmental conditions at the end user? What challenges did you have to solve?
    Igus products have been fundamental for the connection of the utilities on board of the 3 Scara robots for the manipulation and assembly of ropes on pins. The high speed and the very high cyclicity of the robots were the obstacles to overcome.

    The Igus e-rib system has allowed us to follow the accelerations and decelerations impressed by the robots on the corrugated tube of cable passage, taking into account the high number of cycles to which the system is subjected. All this at a relatively low cost.

    In which places? How could the products solve your problems?
    We installed the product on board of the scara robots present on the plant (N.4 robots in total). The solution proposed by Igus was flexible, easy to install, economical and robust for our application. The e-rib system to reinforce the corrugated connection pipes proved to be very functional and technically valid.

    I can not define.

    Column crane with vacuum gripper, to transport furniture boards and countertops, from horizontal racks to vertical saw.
    Where will your application be used? In which industry?
    The machines are installed in DIY stores on a carpenters shop, which prepares mouldings according to individual customers orders.
    What can your plant/machine/project do in particular?
    The device lifts boards and countertops from high racks (up to 4.3 m) and safely transports them to the saw. This saves space in the carpenters shop and relieves workers who no longer have to lift heavy elements.
    What are the deployment/environmental conditions at the end user? What challenges did you have to solve?
    The crane works in a carpentry shop inside a DIY store so apart from light dust there are no harsh environmental conditions. Lifting speed is 0.6m per sesond, acceleration 0.6m s2, travel 4.3m, vertical work.

    The use of a cable guide made it possible to connect the mobile vacuum gripper to the control system installed on the crane column. Both the electrical cables supplying power to the vacuum pump and rotary actuator, the camera and level sensor cables as well as the pneumatic cables for vacuum level control are laid in the guide.

    The guide connects the vertical vacuum gripper with the control system on the crane column. Due to the different types of signals to be transmitted and the associated different types of cable, the use of a cable guide was the best solution.

    Is there a sustainability aspect to your application?
    Our device allows you to save space needed for storage and processing of furniture boards and countertops, and thus reduce the area of the stores themselves. Until now, employees were forced to transport manually (in two persons) boards weighing about 100 kg. Our device allows one person to transport furniture boards without the risk of injury related to overloading the musculoskeletal system.

    We presented our assumptions to the Igus employee by phone and e-mail and received a concrete proposal of a solution that met our expectations.

    Bitte beschreiben Sie Ihre Anlage/ Ihre Maschine/ Ihr Projekt. Welche Funktion hat Ihre Anwendung?

    BirdVision® ist ein in der Entwicklung befindliches Kamerasystem, das an Windenergieanlagen zum Einsatz kommt, um dort Vögel zu erkennen. Fliegen die Vögel in den Gefahrenbereich ein, sendet BirdVision® ein elektronisches Stoppsignal an die Windenergieanlage, wodurch sich die Rotorblätter verlangsamen, sodass die Vögel nicht mehr gefährdet sind. So werden Vogelarten geschützt und unnötige Schlagopfer vermieden. Hauptziel von BirdVision® ist es, für die Windenergie Potenzialflächen zur Verfügung zu stellen, die seither aufgrund des Artenschutzes nicht zur Verfügung standen oder nur schwer zu erschließen wären. Mit BirdVision® sollen der Arten- und Klimaschutz in Einklang gebracht werden.

    Das Projekt beinhaltet die Weiterentwicklung der fest installierten BirdVision®-Stereotechnologie in eine mobile Version, in Form eines Anhängers zur Technologieerprobung.
    Auf dem doppelachsigen Anhänger sind sechs ausklappbare PV-Module (mit ca. 2 kW) montiert, die bei gutem Wetter den Strom für BirdVision® liefern. Sollte es jedoch einmal bewölkt sein, befindet sich im Innern ein großes Batteriesystem mit 9,6 kW, dass das System über längere Zeit mit Energie versorgen kann. Für den Notfall ist zusätzlich ein Generator, mit dazugehörigem Gassystem verbaut, sodass eine vollständige Funktionalität von BirdVision® bei allen Wetterlagen gewährleistet ist. Der Vorteil des Gassystems ist, dass keine umweltschädlichen Stoffe austreten können und so auch Untersuchungen in bspw. In Naturschutzgebieten stattfinden können.
    Die Kameras werden an einem ausziehbaren Mast montiert, sodass eine Höhe von bis zu acht Metern erreicht wird, um das umliegende Gelände gut überschauen zu können.

    Wo wird Ihre Anwendung eingesetzt? In welcher Branche?
    BirdVision® wird für die Windenergiebranche entwickelt. Ein Augenmerk liegt dabei auf Onshore Anlagen mit unebener topografischer Lage, dennoch kann das autonome Vogelerkennungssystem auch auf flacher Ebene eingesetzt werden.
    Was kann Ihre Anlage/ Ihre Maschine/ Ihr Projekt besonderes leisten?
    Mit BirdVision® werden Artenschutz und umweltfreundliche Energieerzeugung in Einklang gebracht.
    Wie stellen sich die Einsatz-/Umgebungsbedingungen beim Endanwender dar? Welche Herausforderungen mussten Sie dazu lösen?
    Die Herausforderung des mobilen Vogeldetektionssystems bestand darin 12 GigE- und 12 Steuerleitungen an einem stufenlos, ausfahrbaren Mast in bis zu acht Meter Höhe zu bewegen. Eine Besonderheit dabei war, dass dies bei jeder Witterung reibungslos und ohne großes Zutun des Bedieners stattfinden sollte. Weiterhin musste gewährleistet sein, dass die Konstruktion auch im ausgefahrenen Zustand und bei Sturmböen so stabil ist, dass die Leitungen sicher gehalten werden. Da das System dennoch mobil bleiben muss, ist es natürlich auch wichtig, dass das Gewicht so gering wie möglich gehalten wurde.

    An einem bis zu 8 m ausfahrbaren Mast 12 GigE- und 12 Steuerleitungen zu bewegen.
    Die ZickZack Kette bietet den Vorteil, dass sie sehr platzsparend und leichtgewichtig ist. Diese Eigenschaften sind von besonderer Relevant, da der manuell ausahrbare Mast nicht so stark belastet werden darf.
    Hinzu kommt, dass die igus® Kette gleich bestückt, mit allen Leitungen und anschlussfertig geliefert werden konnte.
    Welche alternativen Lösungen kamen in Betracht?
    Eine der ersten Ideen war, die Kabel beim Transport als Schlaufe an der Außenseite des Anhängers zu befestigen und beim Auf- und Abbau diese wiederum händisch am Mast zu befestigen. Dieses Vorgehen hätte jedoch einen sehr hohen personellen Aufwand und eine weitere Fehlerquelle mit sich gebracht.
    Die zweite Idee war, die Kabel aufzurollen und ein igus® e-Spool System zu verwenden, jedoch war dies ebenfalls nicht zielführend, da hierfür viel Bauraum benötigt würde. Zusätzlich wäre es notwendig gewesen, die Kette aktiv einzudrehen, was entweder motorisch oder mit Federkraft erfolgen müsste und somit wieder zusätzliche Last auf dem Mast gekommen wäre.
    Gibt es einen Nachhaltigkeitsaspekt bei Ihrer Anwendung?
    Die Nachhaltigkeit des Produktes besteht darin, dass zukünftige potenzielle Standorte von Windkraftanlagen vorab geprüft werden können, ob dort eine gefährdete Vogelpopulation vorhanden ist oder nicht. Das gibt den Anlagenplanern und den Naturschützern die Sicherheit, die sie benötigen, um den Ausbau von Windkraftanlagen an Land voranzutreiben.
    Durch das System können nicht nur personelle Kapazitäten und Ressourcen eingespart werden, sondern es wird auch die Möglichkeit geschaffen nachhaltigen Strom zu erzeugen. Somit kann ein entscheidender Beitrag zum Klimaschutz beigetragen werden, indem der Artenschutz und die Energieerzeugung harmonisiert werden.
    Gab es eine Zusammenarbeit mit igus®? Wenn ja, wie verlief diese?
    Ja, es gab eine sehr intensive Zusammenarbeit mit igus®, da es ein längerer Weg bis zur jetzigen Lösung war. Herr van der Viven von igus®,hat uns hier sehr weitergeholfen. Wir haben mit ihm im direkten Austausch gestanden und nach einigen Umwegen und diversen Annäherungsschritten sowie Änderungen haben wir die jetzige Lösung, mit der wir sehr zufrieden sind, gemeinsam erarbeitet.
    Die ZickZack Kette erfordert eine spezielle Montage der Kettenglieder und so wurde die Kette zuerst falsch montiert geliefert. Dieses Problem wurde beim Aufbau des Anhängers erkannt und an igus® kommuniziert. igus® hat dann die Kette vor Ort durch einen Außendienstmitarbeiter zeitnah prüfen und umgehend abholen lassen, sodass die Kette neuaufgebaut wieder an uns zurückgeschickt wurde und der Anhänger in Betrieb genommen werden konnte.

    Please describe your plant/machine/project. What is the function of your application?
    The station is designed for automatic sheet metal bending, using an ABB robot and a Baykal press brake. Using one gripper, the robot handles the following two workpieces, each in five sizes: Vacuum gripper:
    – „plate front“ detail in modular sizes from 1 to 5 modules.
    – The „back cover“ detail in modular sizes from 1 to 5 modules.
    Where will your application be used? In which industry?
    In the electrical industry, the manufacture of medium voltage switchgear – SafeRing ABB.
    What can your plant/machine/project do in particular?
    The machine is connected to a conveyor, the robot in automatic mode puts metal sheets on the conveyor, then the sheet "rides" to the next station. I can not say what works exceptionally well in the machine, certainly it is a huge relief for workers due to the weight of the workpiece (about 60kg). Work for 3 people, one operates the press and two insert the details.
    What are the deployment/environmental conditions at the end user? What challenges did you have to solve?
    Environmental conditions were difficult at the clamp, the old guide was pulled down with a balancer and had to be very tight. This caused damage to the valve island and damage to the guide itself (it was made of hard material and also had a tension cable in it)
    What requirements did the energy chains and cables have to meet?

    The Igus product eliminated frequent balancer changes and robot stops due to overloading the axes when the old slides snagged on actuators used on the vacuum gripper. It eliminated machine downtime.

    Alternatively, we had an old guide of another mold that did not perform as expected.

    No.
    Was there a cooperation with igus®? If so, how did this go?
    We have long cooperated with Igus in other areas than guides. The cooperation took place through a notification on the website, then a representative of your company proposed a meeting, came to the meeting fully prepared, brought a sample system that we liked very much (retraction system). Then he made an analysis and presented an offer.
